About Real Estate Soup

Real Estate Soup was built out of frustration — my own.

As a homebuyer, builder, former realtor, and real estate investor, I spent time jumping between dozens of websites just to answer what should have been simple questions. The information existed, but finding it meant wading through sponsored results, pop-ups, and various funnels — opening tab after tab just to piece together a basic answer.

I knew there had to be a better way. So, I built this website — and decided to share it with the world.

What Real Estate Soup Is

Think of it as a remote control for real estate research — a human-curated command center that gets you where you need to go in one or two clicks, without typing out or trying to remember a certain website. Avoiding the pitfalls and noise. Every resource has been hand-selected based on real industry experience.

Real estate isn't a one-time event for most people. You might be buying a home today, thinking about investing next year, and managing a rental property the year after that. Real Estate Soup is designed to grow with you — a site worth bookmarking and returning to as your needs evolve.

The navigation tabs at the top are your home base. Here's what you'll find:

Residential, Commercial, Industrial & Land — Resources across various property types, not just the basic ones or consumer sites.

Construction — Builders, suppliers, and contractors for those developing from the ground up.

Loans, Insurance & Legal — The financial and protective layers every real estate transaction eventually needs.

Real Estate Investing & Property Management — Tools and resources for building and managing wealth through property.

Calculators & AI Tools — Run the numbers and think through decisions faster and smarter.

Glossary, Library & Education — For those who want to understand the language and go deeper on any topic.

Government Resources — Public programs, agencies, and regulations that most real estate sites overlook entirely.

Real Estate News & Blog — Staying current on what's happening in the market.

What Real Estate Soup Is Not

This matters just as much.

It is not a marketplace. There are no listings, no lead forms, and no pressure to contact anyone. Just organized resources.

It is not a substitute for professional advice. This site is designed to help you arrive at important conversations informed and prepared — but when it's time to sign a contract, close a loan, or file a permit, work with a licensed professional.

It is not finished. Real estate is a living industry, and this site is updated regularly. That alone is a good reason to bookmark it and come back often.

The Bottom Line

Whether you're a first-time buyer, a seasoned investor, a builder, or a real estate professional — Real Estate Soup is designed to be the first stop in your research, not a detour.

Bookmark it. Use the tabs. Come back often.

Less time searching. More time doing.

About the Founder

Andrew Huisman

My background in real estate and construction spans nearly every corner of the industry.

I served as a U.S. Army Engineer Officer for over a decade, including two deployments to Afghanistan. During my second tour, I directed a $50M+ construction portfolio at Forward Operating Base Shank — the largest American military installation in southeast Afghanistan — under sustained combat operations. That experience taught me to build fast, build smart, and lead under pressure.

Before and after my service, I've worked across the full spectrum of the industry: as a Realtor in Charleston, South Carolina; a custom home builder with the Genesee Company in Denver, where I oversaw 82+ homes prior to the company's acquisition by Lennar; and as a purchasing agent and pre-construction coordinator for D.R. Horton, one of the nation's largest residential builders. I've worked as a commercial construction estimator and project manager, built roads and schools in Belize, and developed and managed my own rental portfolios as a private investor. I've executed fix-and-flip projects and acquired land through tax deed sales.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Louisiana State University and a Master's degree in Engineering Management from Missouri University of Science and Technology. Also a Graduate of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

I built Real Estate Soup to organize the resources I wish had existed when I was starting out — and to make that knowledge genuinely accessible to others. The site's Miami Vice aesthetic is a nod to the show that shaped my imagination growing up, even if I call Charleston, South Carolina home.

I'm so glad you found my website! I am passionate about helping people navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives.

Real Estate Soup was born out of that passion. This is where I take everything I've learned and love about real estate research and put it to work for you — no sales pitch, no pressure, just honest, quality information to help you feel confident and informed.

Buying a home or investment property is so much more than a transaction. It's the place your family gathers during the holidays, the foundation your memories are built on, and for many, a powerful step toward building long-term wealth. Whatever your reason for being here, I want to make sure you have everything you need to make the right move.

My hope is that Real Estate Soup becomes your go-to resource — a place where the research is organized, the information is clear, and the journey to finding your next home or investment property feels a whole lot less overwhelming.
